Nanuk walked towards the den. It held his little family with a large history. His chin dripped with little, sparkling drops. He had gone out to drink some of the stream water. It was as clear and as pure as naturally filtered water could be. His eyes, a bright amber, dilated to catch any bit of light as he entered their den. Soon, his eyes adjusted and he caught sight of Kekona and the cubs. His thoughts wandered, as they always did when he saw them. When are we gonna tell them? Do they already know?Sika silently stalked up behind her brother, Kulu. Her hazel eyes were narrowed, her tail raised just above the den floor. She was a teen now, yes. But cub games still flowed in her blood. She just loved the thrill of them, and the thought of being young and playful. Sika's paw suddenly flashed out, claws sheathed, and pinned her brother's tail.

She watched her cubs... if she could still call them that. Sika's playfulness always brought a smile to Kekona's face when she was little, but seeing her as a young lady playing the same games with the same disgruntled response from Kulu with priceless. Keko looked up at the shadow that fell from the den's entrance. Nanuk. Her angel. "Hello, love." She stretched her muscles from the laying position she had been in. She stayed like that longer than she thought. Her silky pelt rubbed against against his jaw, tail tip flicking his nose. "What have you been up to, hmm?" Her voice became smooth by his head, breathing gently to tickle his ear fur. i45.tinypic.com/10pq7ar.png [/img] "Grah! Sika!" Kulu whipped around at his sister's batting and clubbed her ear with a heavy paw. The blow was soft enough, but still meant to send a message. "What's the matter with you?" His words held an edge to their tone. His tail flicked back and forth, pulling it from her paws. Breaking her grip he lashed it in the air, held high in a sign of dominance. Kulu brought himself to stand over her. "Why are you always making life a game." He sighed the words and laid in front of her, paws crossed looking into her eyes.

Nanuk smiled, flicking his ear at her breath. "Just went out for some water and fresh air," he said. Nanuk's eyes narrowed as the cubs, or teen cubs now, played. Well, Sika played and Kulu responded with his usual self. Nanuk sighed, turning back to Kekona. He lowered his voice and whispered, "Do they know that I'm not their real father yet?" Nanuk's thoughts had been troubled by it ever since the cubs were born. He had to get it off of his chest. Sika squealed at Kulu's action. She felt a growl rising in her throat. "Why do you have to make life seem so serious all the time!? Have you ever had fun in your life!?" she yelled. Sika walked to a long crevice in the wall. It was the one that, when they were younger, was her favorite place to play hide-and-seek. Sika squeezed in, her tail hanging out limply.
